Music

Neal is a classically trained, professional musician, who has performed and taught music for over thirty years. He was a first trombonist for many symphony and stage bands, and orchestras. Neal also sang tenor in various choirs, and is a trained harmonic vocalist. He now focuses on guitar and vocals, playing a variety of musical styles, both as ensemble member and solo act. Neal has taught guitar and voice for a number of years. He has an established number of private students, and also teaches guitar and music at Del Rey School's Cultural Enrichment program in Orinda. Neal is currently available for private guitar and voice lessons, as well as music and movement coaching sessions.

Neal currently sings and plays in, and songwrites for, two groups. The Seething Brunswicks, is a dynamic electric/electronic quartet that integrates world sounds and original compositions into a fresh, rhythmic musical mix.. Odori Simcha creates danceable, melodic songs influenced by music from around the globe.

Previously, Neal played in Y Knot, a popular multicultural group performing original rock songs and world music. Neal also sang in Ohana, a vocal group performing harmonic, improvizational and traditional music.

Voiceover and Theatre

Neal is a versatile performer who is a unique "type". He easily portrays sympathetic, vital characters that audiences relate to. Neal's physicality, athletic build, emotive voice, and angular, expressive face are natural features for film and TV. He has played a variety of characters; comedy is a particularly strong attribute. Neal integrates movement, musicality and oration into his various roles.

A quick study and good sight-reader, Neal currently does voiceover work for various companies. Click here and listen to some free samples!

Dance

Neal is an accomplished dancer, trained in ballet, modern dance, flamenco, hip hop, release technique and yoga. Neal currently integrates this training into highly original freestyle and narrative movement. He has performed as a solo act, and in ensembles, for a number of years. Neal blends music, multi-media, acting, and dialogue into his original compositions. His solo work currently includes The Need Series, a trio of dance/rap pieces about everyday life.

Previously, Neal also performed, wrote and directed Wiener from the Bronx, a multi-media, original, three-act comedy about a mixed-up New York Jewish executive trying to make sense of the modern world. In addition, he also portrayed various unique characters in Clippers, a poignant multi-media comedy by Six Thumbs Dance Theatre about a slice of life in San Francisco.
